The Netherlands expert to help biz group on ‘kasla’ venture

AN EXPERT from The Netherlands is in Bacolod to aid a group of businessmen in Negros Occidental who are set to venture on “kasla” (jatropha curcas) production soon.

Ton Hens of PUM, a group providing professional support to any business venture worldwide, is in Bacolod tomorrow to give some pieces of advice for the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) on a whole range of business involving kasla plant.

MBBCI targets to plant kasla within the first 1,000 hectares that will serve as model areas for the said venture.

These areas are in Murcia, Don Salvador Benedicto, Bago, Talisay and Silay.

“We are just waiting for the arrival of Agrarian Reform Economic Development Program (AREDP) Director-In-Charge Dominador Andres here in Bacolod on June 7 to finalize discussion on kasla venture,” said MBCCI’s Vice President Frank Carbon.

Carbon said DAR will be the one to provide funding for the venture while MBCCI will facilitate for the marketing of whatever the produce soon.

He also said Hens will discuss with them the different techniques on how to extract kasla seed and convert it to crude oil.

“Hens will also share with us some important tips on how to manage kasla business and solve any problem that may arise along the way,” Carbon added.

Meanwhile, PUM is a group of experts who make available their professional know-how and experiences to the organizations which can be helped.

Their assistance is provided directly, on a project basis and free of charge.

Among the services they offer include tracking down of problems in running the business; analyzing and actively helping to think of a solution; sharing of specialist know-how with people in an organization that need it; introducing, demonstrating and giving instructions on new production and other technologies; initiating cultural changes so that an enterprise can work more efficiently and in a more environmentally aware way in the future, and putting in touch with fellow companies for cooperation in various domain.
