Thursday, May 24, 2007 Bing’s presscon rocked by Cordova, oozed by Gamboa
MEDIA were treated to joviality to the point of hilarity when reelected 80-year-old Councilor Napoleon Cordova was forced to divulge his “secret” for staying fit and prim.
In that classic staccato tone plus the “happy birthday” wave of his hand only Cordova can do, replied, “If I tell you the secret, then it’s no longer a secret.”
Some 20 media personnel dropped inhibitions and voiced laughter.
When asked for his choice committee chairmanship, Cordova, who never did away with his straight English, said, “Health and Sanitation because I don’t like the market! People are very difficult in the market.”
Meanwhile, in straight Hiligaynon, newcomer Wilson Jun Gamboa, Jr., thanked members of media for their kindness and opened himself for all to test the truthfulness of his campaign promises.
When asked about his “secret” in his phenomenal rise as a neophyte, Gamboa said, “His wife, the Gamboa factor and prayers.”
“During the campaign, masahe sa kagab-ihon ang akon maangkon, pagpahanumdum sa kaagahun ang iya pabalon (Therapeutic massage in the evenings and reminders at dawn),” Gamboa narrated in melodious Hiligaynon.
“The Gamboa factor left by my assemblyman father was a reckon to contend with and finally prayers, the ultimate,” Gamboa added. (GABS)
