Thursday, May 24, 2007 No desistance plea yet vs American lover By Nicolas C. Delfin
DESPITE her retraction to the media, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) - Bacolod is still waiting for the 17-year-old rape complainant to file her affidavit of desistance on the rape complaint she filed against her American lover.
“We may close the case and the complaint but we need her affidavit of desistance which is very necessary,” said NBI Officer-in-Charge Mamerto “Mert” Cortez, on a phone interview with Sun.Star Wednesday.
“If she has, indeed retracted and would no longer file a case, then she needs to execute an affidavit.
Anyway, were just starting with our investigation,” he added.
On Monday, the girl, a native of La Union Province, went to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) office in Bacolod and filed a formal complaint against a certain Eric Allison who allegedly raped her thrice here in the city.
Later, however, she had expressed her refusal to file necessary charges against the American businessman, whom she claimed that had sexually abused her last May 2, May 4 and May 9, respectively.
On a phone interview with Sun.Star, she said her sexual intercourse with Allison was “intentional”.
