Monday, June 25, 2007 Himamaylan lass crowned Ms. Earth-Mambukal
MAMBUKAL -- Notwithstanding her previous failures in her attempt of gaining one of the highest achievements in a beauty pageant, 20-year-old lass from Himamaylan City, finally had the best time of her life after winning the Miss Earth-Mambukal 2007 held at the Mambukal Resort in Minoyan, Murcia Saturday night.
Grazel Torrecampo, a fourth year college student, taking up Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) at the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP), was hailed second runner-up in the last year’s search for Lin-ay sg Himamaylan and a first runner-up in their school’s beauty tilt.
But victory is really sweeter for her as she took the pageant stage in her third attempt by winning the prestigious Miss Earth-Mambukal 2007 title.
Torrecampo though admitted that she was a bit tense during the glittering coronation pageant and never expected to win the crown.
But her wit, poise and confidence made her to the top.
Named Miss Fire and Miss Water were Jeffa Chavez and Ivy Infante, respectively.
Aside from their major titles, Torrecampo was also named best in Swimwear.
Chavez was chosen as Miss Close-up, Miss Coca-Cola and also won the Best in Body Painting.
Infante, on the other hand, was named Miss PNOC-EDC and Miss Petron.
Other minor awardees include Edelyn Moreno as Miss Photogenic, Kristina Siangena as Miss Pond’s and Miss Negros Navigation, Grace Tanjusay as Best in Flora and Fauna, Mavelle Villagorda as Miss Creamsilk and Josephine Miquit as Miss Infinity and Miss Sunsilk.
