Police step up drive vs water meters thieves
By Suzette T. Quingco

BACOLOD City Police Director Ronilo V. Quebrar has issued a warning against robbery suspects responsible for stealing water meters.

“We are also concentrating on this particular type of robbery because for one thing, water meters are placed outside of the residences and it could be easily stolen,” Quberar said.

He also said he has already alerted his men following the series of robbery incidents involving the stealing water meters.

“I have a plan intended to solve this type of robberies but we also need the cooperation of the meter owners. They must be also responsible for their water system.”

Another thing, Quebrar said is that the water meters are made up of bronze material that is why it’s easy to have these disposed or sold to junkshops. And if ever we catch somebody who is involved in this type of robbery, we will file charges against him, Quebrar said.

Quebrar also said the policemen will exert extra effort regarding the series of robberies that have transpired.

It was recorded that last week, eight persons personally went to Police Station 4 to report that their water meters were stolen by still unidentified persons early in the morning.
