Saturday, July 21, 2007 Delilan: Quebrar is good but… By Erwin Ambo Delilan The Buzz
YES, Senior Superintendent Ronilo Quebrar is one of my friends in the PNP. Since he was at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Noppo) to Region 6 and now as BCPO chief, I know Quebrar very, very well. But with the series of crimes happening now in the city, it's clear that it appears as if Quebrar is only "doing nothing."
The latest incident is the killing of Antonio Regalado, scion of well-known personality former vice governor Gloria Araneta Esteban. Regalado was only found dead at the cogonal area of the Reclamation area beside SM City.
Until now, however, Quebrar has no lead yet on the identities and profiles of the two alleged suspects. Asked for comment or action, Quebrar also said he's entrusting everything to probers from Police Station 2 in Bacolod. But admittedly, this is not supposedly the kind of statement expected to come from a city director.
He should and is supposed to lead the action for the immediate solution of the case.
However, it's lamentable to note that Quebrar seems to be just sitting in his chair and waiting for the sun to set in the west. What's Quebrar doing now?
Since October last year when Quebrar was installed as BCPO director here, I never heard any major accomplishment by Quebrar except for his press releases, among others. But as to the actual police operations, it's as if Quebrar remains a "virgin" not just on gathering evidences but also in solving celebrated cases in City.
The question now is: how long will Quebrar stay in Bacolod? And, how long will it take for the Regalado case to be be solved?
Hope Quebrar would do better now rather than to leave BCPO in a "hanging state" in the future.
