Friday, August 10, 2007 Delilan: The rains and the robbers By Erwin Ambo S. Delilan The Buzz
UH OH, HERE’S Colonel Quebrar again! Reading and editing the story of my police reporter Suzette Quingco on Thursday about Colonel Ronilo Quebrar's statement about the upsurge of robbery cases in Bacolod, believe me, I can't help but laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh.
Quebrar story was all about his warning to the public to be cautious now this rainy season. Because according to him, when there's rain at night, people have the tendency to sleep well until he or she can't detect the robbers coming inside their house.
So Quebrar asked the public to better be on alert when there's rain and if it comes in the night.
What a ridiculous statement!
Quebrar should take that robbers or hold-uppers strike anywhere at anytime. Whether it's in broad daylight or midnight or summer or rainy season, I think robbers don't care about it. If they have prospect or prospects and have the opportune time to strike, they will have to pursue their plan no matter what is the weather.
And, I think what Quebrar needs to do right now is to activate his men and act on the series of robbery happening in the city right. Having robbery, hold-up, snatching, among other petty crimes almost everyday, I think this is a challenge for Quebrar on what to do.
But to blame the situation on the present weather condition, then, I can say that it's better for Quebrar to close his mouth and reserve his words to a worthy cause with effective police operations.
