Arroyo Watch: Sun.Star blog on President Arroyo

The launching ceremony was held recently with Dr. Luisito Escalona, assistant district schools superintendent, leading the ribbon cutting ceremony together with RCB-Central president Josephine Marie Natalaray.

The ceremony coincided with the culmination of the celebration of Nutrition Month was attended by hundreds of schoolchildren, faculty members and representatives of the parent-teachers association.

RCB-Central is the first civic club in the city that answered the call of the government to support the Adopt-a School program of the Department of Education.

The program encourages business institutions, civic organizations and private individuals to help the government in the improvement of facilities of public schools.

The adoption of ABES II is also in line with Rotary’s motto, Rotary Shares, this year. Escalona cited the faculty and staff of ABES II led by their principal Grace Abao for being the first public school to be adopted in the city.

ABES II is already a recipient of a daily feeding program. Improvement of library facilities, provision of safe drinking water and livelihood program for the parents are some of the projects lined-up by RCB-Central for the school. Share a Dictionary Drive will also be undertaken.(Press release)
