Stingers down USLS-Lopues

UNIVERSITY of St. La Salle spikers came from behind Saturday to defeat USLS-Lopues, 24-26, 23-25, 25-19, 25-15, 17-15 in the lone men’s Class A division match of the ongoing 2007 8th Lopue’s Cup Universiy of St. La Salle-Negros Occidental Volleyball Association Interclub Championships at the USLS covered courts.

In men’s Class B encounters, MIGO downed Victprias, 25-12, 25-22, 25-16; Silay drubbed CSAB (hs), 25-12, 25-11, 25-20 and CSAB (col) outlasted PCE, 27-25, 13-25, 25-19, 25-19.
In Class B women’s play, Silay defeated CSAB, 25-15, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21 while USLS-SNA thrashed PCE, 25-9, 25-23, 25-19.
Sunday’s clashes showed Victorias posting a 25-21, 18-25, 25-26, 25-18 win over CSAB (col) while Stingers Club trounced PCE, 28-26, 18-25, 23-25, 13-25 in men’s Class B competition.
Meanwhile, Sabado Club/Alumni whipped USLS-SNA, 25-10, 25-14, 25-20 even as CSAB prevailed over PCE, 21-25, 27-25, 25-19, 21-25, 15-7 in two women’s Class B matches Sunday.
Hostilities in this annual event resume this weekend with men’s Class B maatches scheduled on Saturday morning, August 18 featuring CSAB (hs) against MIGO at 8:30 am; Silay against Victorias at 9:45 am; Lopues versus PCE at 11:00 am and Stingers Club taking on CSAB (col) at 2:15 pm.
This will be followed by two women’s Class B clashes between CSAB and USLS-SNA at 1:00 pm and Sabado Club/Alumni versus Silay at 3:30 pm.
Sunday’s three scheduled matches pit University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos versus USLS-Lopues in a men’s Class A encounter at 8:30 am followed by women’s Class B matches between Sabado Club/Alumni and PCE at 9:45 am and Silay taking on USLS-SNA at 11:00 am.For more Philippine news, visit Sun.Star Manila.
