Trader held-up, loses P100T to 3 robbers
By Suzette T. Quingco

IN BROAD daylight, a businesswoman-planter from Cadiz City was held up along the busy street of Lacson in Bacolod City on Monday and lost about P100,000 to three unidentified motor-riding robbers.

The victim, Carmela Maglayang, 44, has just came from the Bank of the Philippine Island (BPI)-Lacson Branch, when she was blocked by the suspects along 18th Street Lacson and divested her of P100,000 placed inside her black knapsack.

The money was intended for the payroll of Maglayang's farmworkers in Cadiz City, the police report disclosed.

The incident happened so fast that the victim was not able to resist, said Police Officer 3 Julius Lagon, case investigator from Police Station 2. Lagon said, "Probably, the suspects monitored Maglayang since she entered the bank until she went out."

But Maglayang can't also identify the suspects saying that even their red-colored single motorcycle has no plate number.

Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Director Ronilo Quebrar said, "We assure the public that we will do our best to identify and possibly nab the suspects."

"We're learning now the pattern of hold-up incidents in Bacolod. Likewise, we're also studying whether the suspects in Maglayang's hold-up were the same with those who were recently freed," added Quebrar.

Nonetheless, he said he already instructed the station commander of Policen Station 2 to dig deeper on Maglayang's case and arrest the suspects as soon as possible.

The city police chief also stressed that based on their investigation, there's no syndicate operating in the city and could be behind the rampant occurrence of holdup cases in the city including the Maglayang's case.
