By Suzette T. Quingco

“WE’RE not sleeping on the hold-up cases happening in Bacolod,” said Bacolod City Police Director Ronilo Quberar as he explained that they’re now doing their best to identify and as much as possible arrest the three suspected robbers who victimized businesswoman Carmela Malayang along Lacson Street Monday morning.

“I’ve already instructed Inspector Rei Gumban to coordinate with the other police groups in the City just to speed up efforts in gathering information regarding the suspects’ identities,” added Quebrar.

Gumban, in an interview with Sun.Star-Bacolod, also said they’ve already presented three pictures of the suspected robbers to some of the bystanders along 18th Street Lacson who witnessed the incident at around 11 a.m. Monday.

Unfortunately, Gumban said none of the bystanders can identify the suspects.

Gumban, however, said they’re not stopping their efforts in gathering more information regarding the Malayang case until they can gain positive results leading to the identification of the suspects.

Malayang also a sugar planter in Cadiz City was robbed of P100,000 only minutes after he went out from Bank of the Philippine Island (BPI)-Lacson Branch.

The money was intended for the payroll of her farm workers in Cadiz City.

Gumban said, “What happened can be considered a well planned hold-up because the victim could have been monitored by the suspects already before and after she went to BPI.”

Quberar said, “We’re now studying the pattern of the modus operandi of the suspects especially in their use of single motorcycles.”

He, however, assured that no syndicated group existing in Bacolod that could be behind the series of robbery-hold ups in the city.

Gumban also said, “I’ve already directed my men policemen in roving mobile patrols to intensify police visibility especially on areas where the crime happened and the periphery within.”
