Editorial: Remembering St. Ezekiel Moreno

KUDOS to the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) for coming up with various activities in commemorating the death of St. Ezekiel Moreno, the university’s patron saint, on August 19. St. Ezekiel Moreno is the patron saint of cancer sufferers.

Arroyo Watch: Sun.Star blog on President Arroyo

His life was devoted helping the cancer patients despite he himself having it too in the palate. With UNO-R’s “Walk for Healing” activity, no doubt that a lot of cancer sufferers not only here in Bacolod but also in the entire Negros Occidental will surely participate in this noble event aimed at raising funds to help the cancer sufferers.

Moreover, UNO-R also deserves praise for initiating too the so-called “Walk of Fame” with another purpose of raising the funds for a lot of scholars in the Province of which, some of them, are already studying at UNO-R.

These kinds of activities are glaring examples that UNO-R truly lives on the virtue of St. Ezekiel Moreno - to help the poor and sick.

Hope UNO-R will continue to exist not just for the sake of quality education but also for the sake of people from all walks of life who really deserve help and attention from a community where people are molded to become like St. Ezekiel Moreno.
