NPA killed 5 soldiers, 2 cops, 25 civilians in Negros: report

FROM 2005 to date, the New People’s Army (NPA) in Negros island has liquidated five soldiers, two policemen and 25 civilians, a report from 11th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army based in La Granja, La Carlota City.

The five liquidated Negros soldiers include Sgt. Tranquilino Malcredo, Staff Sgt. Diosdado Sudayan, Pfc Ronnie Cordova, Sgt. Dionimar Emperado and T/Sgt. Abraham Infante.

Police Officer I Albert Escala of Escalante City Police Office and Police Officer 1 Melvin Vilacampa of the 602nd Mobile Company were among the Negros cops who suffered their unexpected deaths from the hands of their rebel-assassins.

While of the 25 other civilians, 15 were from various barangays in Guihulngan, Oriental Negros. They were Efren Davis, Lito Amalio, Elmer and Arino Condes, David Sadagnot, Raul Navarro, Reynaldo Quirante, Jury Bayawa, Pedro Angcon, Noel Andy Pique, Eduardo Ymalay, Rody Asoncion, Andres Gelacio Bardoc, Sebastian Tanoy and Andres Divingracia.

Two others were from Canlaon City also in Oriental that include Marlon Vallehermosa and Renato Hectar.

And eight others were from Negros Occidental that include Welmer Matuog, Mador Largado, Danilo Daguhoy, Fred Salibio, Rene Boy Gario, Jerry Perolino, Ildefons Palmares and Virgilio Perez.

Meanwhile, records also revealed that five slain soldiers were killed by NPA hitmen.

Malcredo was killed in Hacienda Sto. Domingo, Barangay San Pablo, Manapla on April 30, 2005 while Sudayan in Barangay Calamba, Guihulngan, Negros Oriental on September 10, 2005. On Nov. 27, 2005, Cordova was also killed in Sitio Salapid, Barangay Inolingan, Moises Padilla town and on November 27, 2005 while Emperado was killed in an ambush at Sitio Kalabitan, Barangay Bagtic, La Libertad, Oriental Negros on May 26 this year.

The latest fatality was Infante who was shot dead on August 14 at their residence in Barangay 5-Poblacion, Moises Padilla town in Negros Occidental.

Both Escala and Villacampa, on the other hand, were gunned down inside a public plaza at the height of a village fiesta in Barangay Mabini, Escalante City, Negros Occidental on May 20, 2006.
