Delilan: City Hall soliciting for SOCA ad?
By Erwin Ambo Delilan
The Buzz

OOOPS. Is it true that City Hall people especially those at the City PIO were tasked by Mayor Evelio Leonardia to solicit something from somebody just to raise funds to pay for the P46,000 Soca ad placement to the Visayan Daily Star?

Arroyo Watch: Sun.Star blog on President Arroyo

Oh, if this is true, what does the mayor want to imply?

Was he really “touched” by what the Buzz had exposed last week about the 6-page Soca ad placed only at the Visayan Daily Star Monday last week?

And for delicadeza sake, is the mayor really trying to prove that the City’s money wouldn’t be spent in paying for the ad which came out in the Visayan Daily Star that is majority owned by their family?

I doubt!

Unless the mayor or the City PIO will present to the public or to the media the receipt of their payment of the SOCA ad to the Visayan Daly Star under the name of somebody who is a private citizen and not connected with City Hall at present.

If not, then, the mayor couldn’t blame somebody from thinking the obvious regarding City Hall’s money and The Visayan Daily Star.

Because if the City PIO was only fair enough in dealing with the media in terms of ad placement, perhaps, there would no problem.

But since the City PIO is very, very selective in choosing media outlets for ad placement on the Mayor’s accomplishments, then it couldn’t prevent people especially other media people from questioning the integrity of the people behind the ad placement.

Much more that The Visayan Daily Star is mostly owned by the Leonardias.

Ramon Lozana, who is the PIO right now, should have thought of something fair rather than to be selective when it comes to media outlets.

On the other hand, Sun.Star-Bacolod is thankful that after all, it is one among the local dailies in Bacolod that continue to maintain its fairness by not being “cowed” by City Hall.
