Thursday, August 23, 2007 Tribu Mahidaiton is 'Pagatpat' champ
TRIBU Mahidaiton was declared champion in Silay City's 3rd Pagatpat Festival held in Barangay Balaring. It also snatched the Best in Choreography award.
Winning second place was Tribu Kamunsilan. Kamunsilan also won the Best in Headdress and Best Costume awards.
Tribu Kahirup was declared third placer. It also won the Best Banner award.
In cooking mudcrab cooking contest, winners included Nelly Barrientos and July Doromal (crab in chile creamy sauce)- first place; Charito Revicente, Nelly Dunlao and Letecia Delarmento (mudcrab in curry sauce)- second place, and Mrs. Delia Montehermoso and Nida Dequilla (spicy crab)-third place.
Mayor Jose Montelibano and Vice Mayor Mark Andrew Arthur Golez also were guests in the affair.
Professor Yorihisa Goto and Mazanori Suzumura of IKAW-AKO Japan-Negros Partnership for Environmental Protection received certificates of recognition for their outstanding performance in the mangrove rehabilitation and livelihood program.
Silay's First Lady Marissa Montelibano, meanwhile, led the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon during the opening of Pagatpat Photo Exhibit which featured mangrove planting chronology in Silay and the hanging fishnet photo showcase.
Leo Canson, the over-all chairman, and Ver Pacete, Tourism Officer, distributed certificates of participation to 20 groups who participated in motorcade, mangrove planting and dance competition. (Press release)
