Vega's return to CLMMRH opposed
By Gil Alfredo B. Severino

THE staff of the beleaguered Corazon L. Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) is doing everything just to block the return of their former chief, Dr. Domingo Vega.

Members of the Hospital Workers Association (CLMMRH-HWA) said they need to gather plenty of signatures right now, especially from the rank-and-file employees.

After which, the HWA members will immediately mail their petition to Department of Health (DOH)-Manila for Health Secretary Francisco Duque to immediately act on the matter.

The petition is spearheaded by CLMMRH-HWA spokesperson Wilhelm Dueño saying "The petition will highlight the fact that the DOH Management Team has not made any significant changes in improving the hospital services, did not report the P15 million deficit to the public and therefore Dr. Domingo Vega should never be allowed to return."

"There was absolutely no report related to the procurement irregularities where all these 'whistleblowing' of Bryan Baylon and Dr. Benito Bionat started," Dueño added.

Dueño is processing the petition highlighting all of these as his group is not sure what kind of a report is sent to DOH whenever one of the DOH team goes to Manila.

Also, CLMMRH HWA would like to send the petition that the 45-day order of the DOH team headed by Dr. Jaime Berdanas to serve CLMMRH is about to expire and that his group received an initial information that Vega will be reinstated.

Dueño explained that the DOH management team did not in any way focus on the problem, adding, "There was no general meeting where the real state of the hospital could have been explained. Right now, we have not received our monthly hazard pay and longevity pay and there was no official explanation whatsoever coming from them."

Dueño stressed that the amount of deficit could reach more than P30 million.

"Whether the report that Vega will return is true or not, we better inform Duque that the problem here is not yet solved."
