SENATOR Pia Cayetano is right in asking Health Secretary Francisco Duque III to reconsider his decision of putting family planning to be the last among DOH’s priorities for 2007.
Although, some said that Duque’s statement about family planning is not yet final, but a lot also worried if family planning will only be taken for granted.
Senator Pia said that whether we like it or not, family planning is one thing that Filipinos nowadays need to practice considering that population in the country has started to balloon to millions. What if we become billion later?
Of course, we still have a lot of spaces in the country for more people to come.
But how about their needs - The education? The income? The foods?
These things are basically the top needs of every family.
But these couldn’t be availed of an ordinary family if it has more than two children considering now the present situation.
That’s why Senator Pia has really a point in saying that DOH should make family planning be its topmost priority again.
Because through family planning, parents could be taught how to plan a happy family with all members enjoying the best.
But if DOH will stay away from family planning, then it can be said.
