Lucio Tan gave verbal assurance, no contract?
By Gil Alfredo B. Severino

THE Retain the Old Airport Movement (Roam) recently met with business tycoon, Lucio Tan and discussed their move to retain the old Singcang airport in Bacolod City.

In a report aired by Aksyon Radyo in a program anchored by JJ Deocampo Tuesday, Roam member Rodolfo “Babes” Alvarez announced the meeting with Tan.

Alvarez acknowledged the help of Po’s Marketing proprietress Mrs. Lucy Ponce as the “go-between” so the group can get a portion of Tan’s extremely hectic schedule.

The meeting with Tan was with the presence of Bacolod City Mayor Evelio
Leonardia and Alvarez conferred with Tan.

Alvarez said, “The meeting lasted for 30 minutes and that Lucio Tan was positive about granting Roam what they are seeking for, the retention of the Old-Singcang airport.”

Alvarez stressed, “No details were discussed with Lucio Tan as this could come later.”

It was not however, clear what was the participation of Leonardia in the meeting, but added, “Lucio Tan will help facilitate the meeting with President Arroyo.”

Again, no dates were disclosed by Alvarez as to when will Tan facilitate the meeting with the President.

Neither did Alvarez admit that they are launching a movement groping for connections with Lucio Tan and President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Ponce and younger brother Domingo facilitated the meeting with Tan, then Tan will facilitate a meeting with the President.
