Final pact for Hacienda Velez-Malaga to be presented Saturday
By Erwin Ambo S. Delilan

AN AGREEMENT that will solve the mess in the contentious Hacienda Velez-Malaga in Barangay Robles, La Castellana, will be presented Saturday to both the management side and Task Force Mapalad (TFM).

This agreement, expected to lead for a win-win solution in the hacienda, has already been signed by Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangadaman and hacienda owner Roberto “Bob” Cuenca.

The pact was a result of the ongoing negotiations being led by former presidential assistant for Western Visayas Lito Coscolluela, Mayor Alberto Nicor, Kabankalan Bishop Patricio Buzon, and Kabankalan Diocese’s Social Action Center head Fr. Rolex Nueva.

Under this agreement, all CLOAs (Certificates of Land Ownership Award) earlier given to the farmers in the hacienda will be recalled.

Then a new survey will be conducted to determine the rightful beneficiaries of Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (Carp) in the hacienda.

Since last year, Hacienda Velez-Malaga had been a “war zone” between the Malaga and Mapalad farmers.

Several members were killed but still the Malaga farmers are hopeful that anytime there will be final solution on the problems or any problem.
