Hundreds of high school students from various public high schools in the province converged in E.B. Magalona and competed in different contests, such as in Home Economics, Agriculture and Industrial Arts.
The contests included welding, bangus deboning, flower pot making, hair dressing, bar tending, among others.
What an amazing scene seeing the young competing in these kind of undertakings.
According to Rowena Bulfa, Step coordinator in the province, the different contests in STEP are really meant to prepare students to become future technologists or entrepreneurs.
I agree!
Remember Go Negosyo? Some individuals who have become entrepreneurs are successful now.
The decision of Mayor David Lacson to host this year’s Step competition and conference was the right one as it opened a door to all Saraviahanons, especially the young students in EB Magalona, to also focus on skilled work rather than to aim for the usual white collar jobs.
Today, college education is too expensive except in government-run institutions.
But by discovering your God-given skills and talents and harnessing them to the fullest, it is not impossible that one would succeed in the future.
That’s why I believe that Step is really for everyone’s good future.
Kudos to the DepEd (Department of Education) people and EB Magalona for hosting this year’s Step.
