Breast Cancer Awareness month kicks off

THE Breast Cancer Center at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City has organized a Seasons of Hope III photo exhibit in observance of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month that started on Oct. 1 to 7, 2007 at the north wing Event Centre of SM City Bacolod.

The photographs are donations from doctors and friends of the center who are avid photography enthusiasts. These artistic and vibrant photos came in the form of landscapes, abstracts, works of nature which have human interest that naturally tug at the soul.

The photo exhibit has become a yearly activity of the center with the support of the local chapter of the Philippine College of Surgeons. It promotes awareness for breast cancer and to give hope to all women suffering from the disease. It is also a way of letting the people know of the free services the center offers.

Aside from the exhibit, there will also be a free Breast Risk Assessment to be conducted by some local surgeons in the city during mall hours. This program aims to identify every woman’s risk to develop breast cancer in the future by teaching them to do self breast examination and counseling on nutrition and other related health issues.

The Breast Cancer Center serves as a haven for indigent breast cancer patients in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental province.
