A source said Monday that Mondia has gone out of the country last month.
Based on the latest monitoring, Mondia is now in Thailand.
Sun.Star-Bacolod contacted Mondia's house in Bacolod but family members would not confirm or deny the report.
Mondia, along with his brother--former Pulupandan mayor Luis Mondia and 40 others, were charged last Monday with murder on two counts and frustrated murder on four counts before the Negros Occidental Provincial Prosecutor's Office at the Hall of Justice in Bacolod City.
The complaints were filed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Bacolod City.
The complainants are Peña, Flordeliz Merced, Maria Theresa Gegavine, Anthony Gerard Suatengco, Diego Anciano, and Marciano Miravalles.
Merced and Gegavine are widowers of the slain Peña's bodyguards--Ronnie Boy Gegavine and Jose Morel Merced.
While the 40 others named respondents are Luis' sons Louie and Luis Mondia III, cousins Pacloy and Edgar Mondia, and Antonio Dichino, barangay captain Doroteo Vallejo of Canjusa, barangay captain Renato Dioso of Zone 4, Mario Treyes, Fritz Javier, Martin "Bong" Mata, Diego Malacad, Noel Occena, Arnel Semillano, Robinson Galanza, Allan Arellano, Joemarie Dalumpines, Gamay/Doring Jereza, Medardo Sayosa, Romeo Nanta alias Juanito Magbanua, Loggie Pabol, Fred Singapore, Ruben "Boy" Olvido and Renato Ronamo.
The rest of the respondents include Rogelio Montero, Bebong Biadora, George Atillano, Jonel Española, Owa Española, Ronnie Fantonalgo, Marche Malapitan, Raul Calderon, Carlos Villanueva, Samuel Diamante, Clarence Española, Benjamin Atchura, Alberto Magdalera, Dioniso Dioso, Antonio Dichino, Arnel Castaneda and Genaro Animay.
In a radio interview Tuesday morning, Peña said 10 more will be charged within this week bringing the total number of respondents to 51.
This is to include Fr. Frank Fernandez alias Ka Frank Fernandez, chief of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CPP-NPA) in Negros, and his other officers, Peña added.
According to Peña, there will be a supplemental case filed because NBI-Manila excluded Fernandez and nine others due to lack of evidence.
But if they will complete collecting evidence, it will immediately be submitted to the Negros Occidental Prosecutor's Office. For more Philippine news, visit Sun.Star Pangasinan. (October 3, 2007 issue) Write letter to the editor. Click here. Join the Sun.Star message board. Click here. |
