Friday, October 05, 2007 Hospital 'phone-less' right now By Gil Alfredo B. Severino
CARLITO Pilliren, who took over the position of administrative officer at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) from suspended Bryan Baylon, flew back home to Davao City for good without giving any explanation.
A spokesman of the health workers of CLMMRH, Wilhelm Dueño, described the sudden flight of Pilliren last Saturday as "worrisome" and ”mysterious.”
Dueño said, "Pilliren's flight was worrisome because he left so many things unexplained. We cannot even feel there was any difference as far as administrative matters are concerned. He did not even reach the October 15 extension of the deadline set by the Department of Health (DOH)."
"The public was not thoroughly informed but after all those teams coming from DOH, one after the other, where are the results? Public information is among the administrative matters that Pilliren could have done," Dueño added.
Dueño said: "Do not be surprised, but the people's hospital, the CLMMRH, has no telephone line for the past three weeks now or so."
"God forbid, how will the people avail of emergency services of the hospital? What if there are near death cases around? What about the out-of-town referrals?" Dueño asked.
Sun.Star Bacolod sources said one of the reasons why telephone lines were cut off was because of the huge long distance calls of the present DOH management team.
An ABS-CBN evening news report Thursday night said DOH management team leader Dr. Jaime Bernadas explained that his six-month stay here is apparently insufficient.
