Man runs amok, kills 1 in barangay fiesta
By Jerome S. Galunan Jr.

THE fiesta of Barangay Alicante in EB Magalona town Thursday was marred by a bloody incident that killed an innocent three-year-old girl and wounded two others.

The incident took place at Purok San Francisco in the said barangay at around 3 p.m. when three drunk men from the nearby Purok Cubay arrived and caused trouble.

Police report disclosed that Salvador Padios, 41, Roderick Siasico, 22, and Joery Bulanon went to Purok San Francisco on board a tricycle.

Upon their arrival, Bulanon allegedly saw his long-time male enemy. He then asked Padios to shoot.

Without any provocation, Padios then pulled out his improvised shotgun (sulpak) and fired indiscriminately hitting three bystanders that include the three-year-old girl and her elder sister, 16, and their cousin, 13.

The three-year-old girl died while being rushed from Teresita Jalandoni Memorial Provincial Hospital (TJMPH) in Silay City to the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City.

The victim’s sister and counsin, on the other hand, remained under observation by doctors at TJMPH as of Friday night.

After follow-up operations, police arrested Padios and Siasico while Bulanon managed to escape and remains at-large until this writing Friday.

EB Magalona Police Chief Samuel Mina Jr. said the case of murder and two counts of frustrated murder had already been filed against the suspects while results of paraffin test conducted on Padios and Siasico will be out Monday.

Barangay Alicante's annual fiesta is celebrated every 4th of October in honor of its patron saint, St. Francis of Assissi.
