Tuesday, October 30, 2007 'Mrs. Marañon' hit by stray bullet
A HEATED argument between a village chairman and barangay tanod resulted to a shooting incident that caused the injury of a passerby in Purok Bongainvilla, Barangay Pandanon-Silos, Murcia.
Responding policemen learned that a misunderstanding erupted between village chief Leandro de la Torre and barangay tanod Jose Magsico and resulted to the firing of several gunshots.
Mary Ann Marañon and her husband Winnie Marañon happened to pass by the area on their way home to Barangay Tangub, Bacolod when Mary Ann was hit in the forehead.
Witnesses cannot identify whose gun hit Mary Ann. Both de la Torre and Magsico were detained at the Murcia Police Station as none of the two admitted to the crime.
Mary Ann on the other hand was rushed to the Riverside Medical Center for immediate treatment. As of 8 p.m. Monday night, Mary Ann’s condition was still critical. She is being treated at the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU).
