WESTERN Visayas Commission on Elections Director Dennis Ausan ordered the deletion of a candidate for barangay council in Valladolid town after she filed three certificates of candidacy on Oct. 18.
In a memorandum of Acting Provincial Election Supervisor Jessie Suarez, the Comelec has designated Bacolod City Election Officer Mavil Majarucon to immediately conduct formal investigation and file criminal case against Fe Benitez.
Meanwhile, another petition for disqualification was also filed against Jose Lindy Chan, a candidate for barangay captain in Mambulac, Silay City.
In the petition, Mambulac incumbent barangay chief Renato Doloso and civilians Lalaine Cabiao, Romeda Mayo and Meldy Montalvo asked the Comelec to disqualify Chan for not disclosing in his certificate of candidacy that he had been convicted of violating Presidential Decree No. 1602 or the law against illegal gambling on June 15, 1993 by Judge Renato Muñez of Cadiz City.
Doloso and company added that Chan had also been charged with the crimes of grave threats, direct assault against a person in authority, and unjust vexation as evidenced by supporting documents attached to the petition.
In Bacolod City, incumbent barangay chairman Gary Yanson of Barangay 9 filed a petition for disqualification against Gloria Alisbo, who was also running against him.
According to Yanson, Alisbo is a resident of of Barangay Mandalagan. However, Alisbo said she is a registered voter of Barangay 9.
