AFTER the October 29 barangay and SK (Sangguniang Kabataan) elections, police in Negros Occidental are also on alert for the observance of both the All Saints' and All Souls' days.

Bacolod City Police Director Ronelo Quebrar also disclosed that police assistance stations will be available near the cemeteries (public and private) here in the City.

He also ordered his men to fully secure all the cemeteries, bus terminals, airport, seaport and other places of convergence.

Traffic Management Unit chief Levi Pangue, meanwhile, informed the public that they will be closing the roads along Burgos Cemetery at 6 a.m. of Nov. 1 and 2 and will have a one-way passage at the Burgos Extension until Bangga Fortune Towne.

In Manila, the PNP also activated its "Operation Plan Kaluluwa," a measure aimed at ensuring a peaceful and orderly observance of the All Saints' and All Souls' days, a police official said.

"(This is) to ensure the security of your loved ones who will go to the cemeteries for All Saints' and All Souls' days," Chief Superintendent Silverio Alarcio, the PNP's directorate for operations, said in a news briefing at Camp Crame in Quezon City Tuesday.

Alarcio said policemen would be deployed in the cemeteries and travel routes to maintain peace and order.

Also, they would be exerting monitoring efforts to deter terrorists from taking advantage of the occasion, the police general said.

Meanwhile, PNP-Traffic Management Group (TMG) Director Perfecto Palad said TMG policemen would be deployed to the major thoroughfares starting Wednesday morning to assist commuters who are going to the provinces. (With reports from Sunnex)
