Monday, November 05, 2007 Delilan: "Bad egg" By Erwin Ambo Delilan The Buzz
I WAS resting in our house in Barangay Cudangdang, E.B. Magalona Friday morning when I heard over Bombo Radyo-Bacolod the sad story of Alex Bautista against the hands of alleged policeman, PO1 Frankie Alojado.
Bautista, a farmer from Cadiz City, claimed to have been allegedly robbed by Alojado and his two companions of his P65,000 intended for the dialysis of his mother-in-law.
The incident, narrated Bautista, started when Alojado and his two male companions flagged him down along Rizal Street near the San Sebastian Cathedral as early as 6 a.m. Friday.
Bautista was riding on a single motorcycle with no license plate.
Alojado then allegedly asked P1,000 from him but they negotiated until they agreed on P500 as "settlement".
But when the policeman saw the bundle of money that Bautista had with him, Alojado changed his mind and ordered Bautista to drive his motorcycle with one of his companion accompanying the victim until they reached Gatuslao-Lerio street, one of the secluded areas in Bacolod.
There, the farmer-victim claimed to have been hit by the suspects at the back and then Alojado was the one who allegedly took his money.
Thanks that there was somebody who accompanied Bautista to Bombo Radyo-Bacolod where he reported the incident.
And thanks also to Bombo Radyo-Bacolod reporters for accompanying Bautista to the police headquarters in Bacolod where he later identified the "robber".
Of course, Alojodo, formerly assigned at the Traffic Management Unit (TMU) and now part of Police Station 7 in Mansilingan area, denied making the "foolishness".
He said he was in Isabela town at the time of the incident. Some of his fellow cops also supported him.
But Bautista was consistent and firm in pointing at Alojado as the one who robbed him.
He said he's just poor but he has conscience, too.
Judging from his statement, I can say that Bautista is true and honest.
I know that he won't risk his life in pointing Alojado as the suspect if he was not sure the guy was the one who blocked his way and later robbed him.
Nevertheless, probe is now going on with an order from Police Regional Office 6 Director Wilfredo Dulay Sr. to dig deeper into the case.
Dulay also ordered Quebrar to disarm Alojado and put him under pre-charge investigation.
If proven guilty, Dulay said he won't hesitate to order Alojado's immediate dismissal.
Good! At least, Dulay wants to assure the public that he is doing something. What is wrong is wrong, he said.
So let's wait for the final word from Col. Quebrar and the final order from Gen. Dulay.
In case Alojado is guilty, then he can be called a "bad egg" in the PNP.
