Alay Lakad scholars’ reunion slated

THE Alay Lakad Local Steering Committee will hold the first homecoming of its former Scholars from 1972 up to 2006, on November 10, 2007, 1:00 pm at ABC HALL, Bacolod City.

Numerous scholars are expected to attend, according to executive committee chairperson Nelia Nemenzo of Kiwanis.

Part of the activity will be the evaluation of the scholarship program: how the courses have helped the scholars; testimony of success stories and data banking of all the scholars.

“This way, we can keep track of our scholars, how they have fared and how the Alay Lakad has helped them. This will then become a tradition for the Alay Lakad,” Nemenzo added. Registration is free.

Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia will be the guest speaker for the activity. The City Government of Bacolod led by Mayor Leonardia was one of the benefactors of the walk for a cause fund raising last year which has sponsored 149 scholars for the school year 2006-2007.

Meanwhile, Alay Lakad 2007 is set on December 2 and is anchored on the theme Lakad Bayan Para Sa Kaunlaran. The walk will start at 5:30 in the morning from four different starting points: Bacolod City National High School to be spearheaded by Mayor Leonardia; West Negros College; Bacolod Capitol Lagoon; and Goldenfields Commercial Complex.

The Alay Lakad will be participated in by schools, government agency, non-government organizations and private sector, among others.
