The musical sense of David Pomeranz
By Gil Alfredo B. Severino

BACOLOD media were treated to an intimate conference Friday when David Pomeranz who will swoon hearts Saturday in a solo-concert.

With a singing career spanning a wide range of musical media, David Pomeranz's multi-platinum selling songs, recordings and concert performances have delighted and inspired millions all over the world.

From his classics, "Born for you", "It's in every one of us", "Tryin' to get the feeling again", and "The old songs" (the latter two both number one hits for Barry Manilow) to his recent chart success with Missy Elliott, David's music goes straight to the heart.

This Long Island-raised singer came on the dot as set. His patience was not
threatened when his interviewers came in late.

"I know, I'm in the Philippines. I can feel the fresh air, very clean air. Why the rush?" he humbly obliged.

It's quite soothing to the soul when a singer, composer, actor, musical scorer and theater performer admits deficiency in formal schooling but aspires academic advancement in musicology.

This was David's confession when asked where his talents were honed the most.

"I play the piano and read notes but a lousy one," he said.

"I like young people to go into formal training in music though, if they want to really be good. I play and compose by ear but it could have been better had I been patient with my piano lessons back in childhood days," he reminisced.

He has an advice to make, "Formal training must be balance with the skill to modify. I met great classic musician who play by the notes, simply mechanically playing by the notes. their great musicians and had high respect for them."

"But my craft has a business side to it. You've got to ride on people's aspiration and must have a very good marketing package to have a good music sense," David said.

"This worked for me especially when placed in an Asian market," he added.
Indeed few must have known that one of David's most beloved songs, "It's In Every One Of Us", has been translated into numerous languages, recorded time and again and sung all over the world in churches, corporate seminars, schools, synagogues, political rallies, weddings, fundraisers and anywhere people gather for an uplifting purpose.

"It's In Every One Of Us" was a major sponsor theme song to the Summer Olympic Games in Seoul, Korea.
