While two others suffered their "painful" death in a freak road accident at the "Killer Highway" in Bangga Saging, Barangay Damgo, EB Magalona at around 2:15 p.m. Sunday.

Police identified the hold-up victims as Jonel Abraham, 18 of Cuaycong, Barangay 20, Victorias City and Mary Jane Gersa, 33 of Hacienda Pusod Daku also in the same barangay.

The two, together with Gersa's 11-year-old daughter (whose name being withheld) were stabbed by an unknown male suspect.

Abraham and Gersa suffered fatal wounds in their stomachs causing their sudden death while being rushed to the Ikaayong Lawas Hospital in Victorias City at around 7 p.m.

Gersa's daughter, however, survived and is now being confined at Teresita Jalandoni Memorial Provincial Hospital in Silay City.

Investigation revealed that Abraham, a tricycle driver, was rushing towards Pusod Daku from Victorias City proper with the Gersas as his passengers.

But when they reached at Purok Bakayan in Sta. Cruz area, an armed man suddenly appeared and blocked Abraham's motorcycle.

The suspect declared hold-up but the victims resisted in giving their money.
Irked by the victims refusal, the suspect stabbed them including Gersa's daughter.

He then fled away from the scene carting away the victims' money.

Road mishap

In EB Magalona, Teodoro Panes and Rolando Deles, both of Binubu-an, Bago City, also died after the single motorcycle they were riding on collided with the school bus of Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod with 30 nursing students on board.

The nursing students were supposed to go to Calatrava, Toboso and San Carlos for their internship in the hospitals there.

Traffic Investigator Rudy Azuro disclosed that Panes and Deles were from Hacienda Pilar, Barangay Alicante, E.B. Magalona prior to the incident.

Panes, who was the one driving the motorcycle, was reportedly driving at high speed and when they reached Bangga Saging in Barangay Damgo, Panes overtook a white delivery van.

Unfortunately, their motorcycle was sideswiped by the van causing it to bump the running school bus from the other lane.

Julius Noynay, 30, of Sagay City and driver of San Agustin school bus said he never thought that the motorcycle will hit their bus.

"I just saw the motorcycle running fast but I never realized that it will bump our bus," the driver said, adding, "When I found that the motorcycle will bump us, I applied a break but I can't swerve the truck anymore or else we will fall in the canal that will also endanger the lives of the nursing students."

The school bus only sustained slight damages at the left bumper and windshield.

Noynay surrendered to Victorias City Police Office after the incident but the police took him and the school bus back to E.B. Magalona for proper investigation.

SPOI Ronilo Mercurio, case investigator said although Noynay was on the right track when the mishap occurred, still he will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting to double homicide.

Mercurio said they will charge Noynay with reckless imprudence resulting to double homicide.

"It's up for Noynay's counsel to save him from imprisonment later," Mercurio added.
