Fire gutted Murcia market

FIVE establishments and a restaurant were damaged when a fire razed the Murcia Market Friday night, the Murcia Fire Department reported.

Fire officials said electric circuit problem could have caused the fire.

The five damaged establishments were Blocks number 12 owned by Romeo Villacarlos, number 13 owned by Victoria Mercurio, number 14 owned by Rodolfo Zamaniego and numbers 15 and 16 owned by Sabel Maghari.

Destroyed was the Kurt and James Restaurant.

BFP estimated some P750,000 worth of structures and merchandise damaged by the fire.

SFO3 Johnny Hechanova reported that fire was "confined" at 9:10 a.m. and was controlled at 9:30 a.m.

Murcia Mayor Sonny Coscuella meantime called on all government agencies concerned to figure ways and means to help the victims financially.

Coscuella assured the victims that the municipality would surely extend help.
