Tuesday, January 08, 2008 Top cops to receive added incentives
THE 2008 Metrobank Foundation Search for the Country's Outstanding Policemen in Service (COPS) received a welcome boost with the recent announcement of increased cash prizes for both commissioned and non-commissioned officers.
Beginning this year, each of the winners of this nationwide search will be awarded P250,000.
COPS is a joint project of the Foundation and the Rotary Club of New Manila East in partnership with PSBank and the Philippine National Police.
According to Foundation president Aniceto Sobrepeña, the prize adjustment is in line with Metrobank Group chairman George SK Ty's directive to strengthen efforts to encourage Filipinos to constantly strive for excellence and work towards the greater goal of nation-building.
"Dr. George SK Ty believes that the best way to give meaning to the Metrobank Group's achievements is to give back and share the fruits of our success with deserving sectors of society," he said.
PSBank president Pascual Garcia III, on the other hand, expressed his full support for the 2008 COPS search.
"We believe in providing due recognition to Filipino policemen who are dedicated in improving our quality of life. PSBank is optimistic that this recognition will inspire other men and women of the Philippine National Police and other Filipinos to continue enhancing their service and to perform with competence and integrity," said Garcia.
COPS winners are chosen after a stringent selection process that includes documentation of achievements, background check, and panel interview with a distinguished board of judges representing various sectors of society.
Nomination forms are available at the Philippine National Police, all PSBank branches and at the following websites: www.pnp.gov.ph and www.mbfoundation.org.ph. Deadline for submission of nominations is on February 28, 2007.
