Guv in stable condition
By Ma. Ester L. Espina

THE Provincial Government issued an official medical bulletin Tuesday saying Governor Joseph Maranon is in stable condition after being admitted at the Riverside Medical Center Monday morning.

Capitol's Chief-of-staff Jose Ma. Valencia said the governor was brought to the hospital after complaining of some discomfort but "we are glad to note that he seemed to be responding well to treatment."

Earlier, the governor who is on official leave of absence was treated for an infection and has since been recuperating at home before the recent hospitalization.

Some text messages, which are being circulated, stated the governor to be in critical condition, which prompted his office to issue the medical bulletin to dispel the rumors.

Valencia said while the governor has been ill for some time, "he has remained sharp and until recently, has been receiving visitors at his home."

Maranon's hospitalization was also upon the advise of his doctors, Valencia said, adding that while there was an earlier advisory for a strictly no visitors policy, "the governor would always welcome people visiting him instead of getting a good rest."

Valencia also relayed the gratitude of the Maranon family for the public's continued prayers for the welfare of the governor.

"Mrs. Aida Maranon would like to express their family's profound gratitude for the overwhelming concern and prayers from the public," Valencia said.

He also said its business as usual in the province with Vice-Gov. Isidro Zayco in acting capacity as the chief executive until Maranon gets well.
