Friday, February 29, 2008 WVPRISAA basketball, football lineups finalized
COACHES Jack Tumayan (basketball) and Norman Fegidero, Jr. (football) both of the West Negros University have submitted their final lineups for the 2008 National PRISAA (Private Schools and Athletics Association) Meet to the technical committee last Tuesday during a meeting of coaches for the national meet held at Bob's North Drive.
The meeting was presided by WVPRISAA technical committee head Roger Banzuela of University of St. La Salle.
The WVPRISAA men's basketball lineup is bannered by WNU Mustangs Vengie Vergara, Alfie Villariza, Bernard Suante, Winrich Pusoc, Vergilio Dapar, Jetric Sumido, Paul Bacillote, Briton Javelona, and Jason Melarin; Arnold Gono of UNOR; Arrom Aledron and Miraflores of USLS; as well as Mhark Hubalde and Jundale Saul of University of Iloilo; and Armar Bongbong Talimay of Iloilo Doctors College.
The Negrenses, carrying the colors of Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) won the men's basketball championship during the 2008 WVPRISAA Meet held in Kalibo, Aklan last February 5-11.
The WNU Mustangs are the reigning NOPSSCEA men's basketball titlists having pocketed their eighth NOPSSCEA collegiate crown last year at the expense of upstart CEDAR Computer College of Cadiz in the finals.
Meanwhile, RP team coach Norman Fegidero, Jr. who is varsity head coach of WNU said he is tapping the services of three booters from Iloilo to complete his lineup for the nationals. The Iloilo reinforcements are Peter Sobredo and Paolo Roman Suñer of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University and Eli Cagayanan of Western Institute of Technology.
Other members of the team are Carlos Bolo, Jr., Hemerson Campo and Miguel Gonzales of USLS; Samson Sare, Joey Garcia, Michael Pacite and Jeepee Gardose of UNOR; and WNU standouts Erl Tomodos, Francisco Doniesa, Jr., Mark Ferrer, Jalor Soriano, Ryan Lirio, Ruffy Llorente, Gino Palomo, and Jayme Poderoso.
Assistant coaches are Carlo Torbela of UNO-R and Noah Sajo of WNU with Joel Bonza of WNU as team medic.
