Monday, March 10, 2008 Editorial: Jun Lozada in Bacolod
HE WAS the man of the hour when in fear and tears, he faced the press and testified before the Senate Ethics Committee.
The nation rejoiced with him when he overcame his fears, heard mass at the La Salle Greenhills. He was then all smiles and acknowledged the eager crowd to be with him.
We even stand against the news that the Department of Education was about to bar him from speaking before graduation rites.
And now the latest news is that Jun Lozada is visiting Bacolod to speak. This time, we will receive his visit with the same warmth but with some tinge of circumspection.
For us who had been following his exposes seem to feel that it has become 'exploits.'
Two things are observed. One, many times Jun Lozada was caught to be a 'judge,' not a testifier anymore. Second, his private life and private corruption is fast catching up. Whether this is counter- propaganda or not, we advice that he should slow down now.
The kidnapping, Senate testimony, crying at press conferences are good but now it should be tapered.
Whether he has some 'handlers' now or none, it is best to 'suspend' his appearances.
Soon, he could become the object of investigations. For now, his million-peso goats and participation in the 1.2 million hectare China land deal is highlighted.
Jun Lozada should better be cautious now and so with us in Bacolod. We will not reject his visit. With open arms, we will give him what he deserve but we must not lose our critical thoughts as well.
Jun Lozada is a credible witness to the NBN-ZTE deal.
Other than this, what is his private life that deserved to be emulated by the young people of Bacolod?
Unless he will come here and talk about NBN-ZTE deal, no more no less. This is boring.
