Wednesday, March 12, 2008 Guard, 3 others in theft nabbed By Karl G. Ombion
A SECURITY guard, warehouseman, delivery boy and their accomplice 'customer' were nabbed Tuesday morning by operatives of Police Station on complaints of qualified theft.
Betty Moleno, owner of BreadMaster, a 24-hour wholesaler grocery located at Cor. Northdrive-San Juan Streets, Barangay 2 this city filed the complaint.
Moleno in her complaint at Station 2 said for a month now she noticed that her store had been receiving good amount of customers yet the sales had not registered an increase and the grocery stocks had always ran out ahead of the usual deliveries.
Suspicious that an inside job theft takes place late in the evening or early morning, she sought the assistance of Station 2 for a stake out operation.
On Monday around 3:00 in the morning Station 2 police operatives led by Sr. Inspector Luisito Acebuche conducted a surprise inspection of the store and caught on the act Manuel Ledesma preparing to sneak out P1,100 worth of shampoo sachets, but insisted that he was just a customer.
During the initial police investigation, Acebuche said that Ledesma admitted that he had been stealing goods inside the store for quite sometime now together with the store warehouseman Virgilio Dacaldacal, store delivery boy Richard Escabar, and the store's security guard Ramilo Bojos.
Ledesma also said they had already stolen P300,000 worth of milk, noodles, soap, oil, among others.
After Ledesma's revelation, the police operatives staged a follow up operation at the store and nabbed Dacaldacal, Escabar and Bojos. Police also disarmed Bojos of his .38 cal pistol with serial number 871756, loaded with live ammos.
The three suspects are now detained at Station 3, while businesswoman Moleno is preparing to file a case of qualified theft against the four suspects.
