Kin of mishap victims search for missing cash, jewelry
By Erwin Ambo S. Delilan

THE Junatases in Sagay are asking EB Magalona Police Office Chief Samuel Mina and Mayor David Albert Lacson to help them look for the missing cash and jewelry of their slain relatives who were victims in a freak accident along Km.14 in Barangay Tabigue, EB Magalona Saturday evening.

Ferdinand Yngson, acting as spokesman for the Junatases told Sun.Star-Bacolod Wednesday the victims' undetermined cash and jewelry were already missing when their bodies were taken to the hospital in Bacolod an hour after the mishap.

Killed in the accident were Mimi Junatas, her son Gene Noel and daughter Margarette Ann, and their driver Alan Carmona, all of Barangay Paraiso, Sagay City.

The incident happened at around 11 p.m. when an Isuzu 6-wheeler truck owned by Kim Marketing and traveling from north to south direction of the highway, suffered mechanical trouble and rammed at the Junatas' Honda Civic car, which was running in the opposite direction.

The mishap was a sort of a "disaster" for Erjo Junatas, a seaman, who just came from Florida Tuesday.

Erjo can't believe that his wife and two children were already gone.

Yngson said, "It's sad to note the victims were already dead but were also looted by still unknown people."

Mimi and Margarette Ann, said Yngson lost their gold bracelets, necklace and earings.

Aside from jewelry, the undetermined amount of cash withdrawn by the victim from the bank Friday was also missing, Yngson added.

"That's why we're asking the help of Chief Mina and Mayor Lacson to appeal to the people in EB Magalona to return the cash and jewelry of the victims," Yngson added.

Mina assured that he is now doing everything to look into this matter.

As to the case, the chief of police said charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide were already filed in court against Ronaldo Pacigado, driver of the truck, who is still detained at the EB Magalona Police jail until press time Wednesday.

Meanwhile, interment for the victims is yet to be scheduled by the family.
