Legaspi: Where?
By Carlos Legaspi, Jr
Questions That Matter

JUN Lozada is arriving today and will talk to a number of students about the fate of the country under a corrupt regime. He admits that he is part of the anomalous deals that this administration has done. He has admitted that he had dined with grafters and evil men in this administration. He has admitted that he was part of the system and culture of corruption in the country. Now, he turns away from all these and tells the truth. He walks out of the corrupt circle and reform his ways. This is a Lenten message to us by a simple "Chinoy" who now wants to straighten his life.

I take my hat off to people who really know where to stand. I shun people who are not principled and those who know only and not live what they know.

Arroyo Watch: Sun.Star blog on President Arroyo

The "whistle blowing" of Jun Lozada has opened the minds of many, especially the young. It has placed into the limelight all those who are into graft and corrupt practices in the administration. It has really now set the fire glowing.

However, those who occupy decision-making positions are now at a loss on what to believe in. Many of these people are now so calloused and are "manhid" of the events around them. They play blind to the evil realities around them. This is dangerous when the good tolerates evil.

I hope that the presence of Jun Lozada and other "whistle blowers" will eventually change the attitude of many leaders of this beloved nation. In Negros, the progressive youth has walked the streets for the recognition of their right in the governance and administration of the state. These young people have already seen the hopelessness in people running this administration. They are now going out so that their voices may be heard. The young people are now more radical and progressive than many of us.

Negros will be hearing from Jun all that it needs to hear. Jun will be seen in person today at ESLS, LCC and the San Sebastian Cathedral. He will once again be telling the crowd about the anomalies that this administration had been into.

The Spratly's deal, the drama in the Senate, the DECS order and the rest of the pressing issues today are being hurled to smoke screen and deviate the real issue of graft and corruption. It seems that GMA planners are once again successful in diverting the attention of the Filipinos.

Negrenses and Bacolodnons should flock and really hear the side of Lozada to farther hear the truth. Many of our poor forefathers have failed because they failed to listen. We have to keep an open-mind but without sacrificing our morals and principles.

I would like to think that we all agree that this administration has developed a culture of graft and corruption. We also agree that GMA has already lost her moral ascendancy over the Filipino people and that her scraping of her EO 464 has no effect. I hope we agree also that the likes of Romulo Neri should not hold public office and should be accused for hoarding information leading to the truth. And I also want to think that we agree that GMA and her men should pack up their things and leave.

Deep within me, I believe that GMA will not step down soon. She is bent of continuing her presidency till the day that US will tell her to step down. Marcos and Erap went down fromk office by orders of the United States . This little woman seems to be of no threat to the Bush Corporation. I presume that she has been allowed by the Bush Executives to stay in power until the US elections are over. This might be the reason why GMA has remained confident in her seat.

I continue to pray that the US shall make earlier decision regarding GMA to save this country and to also have their interests protected. After all, if graft and corruption shall continue, it is the US that will suffer more, for we can no longer deliver the goods that they need from us.

Pope John Paul II and St. Ezekiel Moreno, pray for us.
