Monday, March 31, 2008 USLS summer camps, varsity tryouts set
THE University of St. La Salle varsity sports office, headed by former Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) head Roger Banzuela, has announced the staging of various summer camps and clinics this summer.
Its Hoop basketball camp (batch 1) is scheduled from April 1-12, 1-3 p.m., Monday to Saturday, while batch 2 is scheduled from April 28 to May 10, with same time and days schedule, at the USLS College Covered Court.
This is open to boys and girls 6-14 years old and will be conducted by the USLS basketball coaching staff to be assisted by the USLS basketball varsity players.
Also scheduled is the summer 2008 swim trek on April 1-15 (batch 1), April 16-29 (batch 2), and April 30 to May 10 (batch 3), Monday to Friday, 7:30-9 a.m.; 3-4:30 p.m., and 4:30-6 p.m. at the USLS swimming pool.
Participants will be classified into toddlers (5-6 years old boys and girls); learn to swim (7 years old and above, boys and girls); and advance course/competitive (7 years old and above, boys and girls). This will be conducted by Olympian Francisco Guanco Jr. and Buddy Tordillos. Registration fee is P1,200 inclusive of pool fee.
Meanwhile, the football summer camp is scheduled from April 15-May 30, 9-11 a.m., Monday to Friday, at the USLS football field and is open to grade school and high school students with a registration fee of P500.
Instructors are headed by former RP team coach Freddie Lazarito and the USLS football coaching staff, assisted by the USLS football varsity players.
Also open is the stingers taekwondo summer clinic from April 1-May 31; 9-10:30 a.m. and 10:30-12 noon, Monday, Wednesday and Friday for new students and beginners; 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday & Thursday; 9-10:30 a.m. and 10:30-12 noon Saturday for regular students and advance.
Venue is at Sam's Slim Gym, 3rd Floor, JTL Bldg., B.S. Aquino Drive (in front of Redemptorist Church). Open to six years old and above boys and girls, registration fee for new students is P150 per session, and P60 per session for old students. Instructor is USLS coach Ric Relon assisted by USLS taekwondo varsity players.
The USLS VSO also announced that varsity tryouts for first semester school year 2008-2009 for athletics is scheduled from April 21 to May 15, 4-6 p.m., Monday to Friday, at the USLS track oval to be conducted by USLS coaches headed by Inocentes Maquino; basketball men on April 1-12, 7-9:30 a.m., Monday to Saturday, at the USLS College Covered Court to be conducted by coaches Troy Sarabia and Leo Casinillo; and football men and women on May 12-30, 3-6 p.m., Monday to Friday, at the USLS pitch to be conducted by coaches Freddie Lazarito and Ramon Janeo.
Other tryout schedules are volleyball men and women on April 24-29 & May 19-23, 8-11 a.m., Monday to Friday, at the USLS College covered court to be conducted by coaches Roger Banzuela, Malot Lozada, Tito Java and Carl Steven Barredo; table tennis men and women on March 29, 9-11 a.m.; April 22, 24 & 29, 9-11 a.m.; May 5, 6 & 7, 9-11 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. at the USLS College covered court by coach Viveca Ramos.
