Wednesday, April 09, 2008 Zayco denies he wants Franco out By Karl G. Ombion
GOVERNOR Isidro Zayco on Tuesday vehemently denied allegations he had something to do with the rumors that he wants Negros Occidental Police Director Rosendo Franco out.
"Well, there is no truth to that rumor. I have not made any recommendation to the higher up requesting for Franco's transfer or replacement," he said.
"As far as I am concerned, I have not heard or received any major or serious complaints from any sector against Franco. To me, he is generally a good performer," Zayco added.
Zayco believes if ever Franco's transfer has been floated around, it could be that he has already completed his tour of duty here and that he is up for re-assignment, or perhaps, even a promotion.
"Reshuffling and re-assignment are standard operating procedures in the police organization. So if Region 6 Director Superintendent Isagani Cuevas has said anything on Franco's transfer, that is up to them. Anyway, whoever replaces him will still have to go through me for approval," the governor also said.
Franco admitted Wednesday that he was informed of his possible re-assignment but has yet to receive an official order.
"If I'm really up for transfer, I will welcome and thank it. I believe it is going to be a promotion," he said.
Franco was the choice of the late governor Joseph Marañon and has been serving as provincial director from September 2006 to present.
