Wednesday, April 23, 2008 Earth Day jam, recycling market on
SM CITY Bacolod hosted the Earth Day jam and recycling market Tuesday in celebration of this year's International Earth Day.
The Macainan Trade Center, owned and managed by Teddy Macainan, accepts traditional and nontraditional waste items and converts them into cash from April 22-26, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. daily, at the mall's North Transport Terminal.
In cooperation with the Bacolod and Negros Earth Day Convenors, barangays in the city are encouraged to do a citywide cleanup and bring their recyclable materials to SM recycling market to trade in for cash.
Traditional waste items include paper, plastic, PET bottles, tin cans, metal and cartons, while nontraditional wastes include ink cartridges, electronic waste, computer printers and appliances.
An Earth Day jam was simultaneously held from 4 p.m. onwards at the mall's South 3A carpark.
With the spectacular sunset view of Guimaras Strait, convenors, guests and visitors were treated to acoustic and full band entertainment with a food strip of delectable and tasty dishes.
The Animo Puppet Theater, Clay and the Bacolod Association of Models, Grupo Babayi Artists and Bacolod City Gender and Development (GAD) Council would also showcase their environmental programs through body painting and ramp modeling.
