Bacolod school hails Ibrado's appointment

IF THERE'S one entity really proud of the recent appointment of Lieutenant General Victor 'Bong' Ibrado as the new Army chief of the country, it is the Domingo Lacson National High School (DLNHS) in Barangay Banago, Bacolod.

This is because Ibrado is still an active alumnus of DLNHS who, from time to time, visits his Alma Mater.

That's why when his appointment was announced the other day, Esteban Albacea, principal of DLNHS, said: "We're very, very happy and very proud of him."

Albacea said Ibrado graduated as class valedictorian in 1971.

"He's (Ibrado) really, really a gentleman and good executive. We're confident that he can manage well the entire Army forces," the school principal assured.

He recalled that every time they have gatherings in school like homecoming, graduation and Christmas party, among others, Ibrado never forgets them. "General Ibrado is really one 'good provider' in our school. Even if we have outings or businesses in Manila or anywhere, he took care of our billeting and even hosted dinner or lunch for us."

He described Ibrado as a down-to-earth and humble military officer.

Having now an alumnus who is an Army chief is one "great thing" for DLNHS, stressed Albacea.

Sought for his reaction over the phone, Ibrado said: "I am happy and honored by the new designation as the new commanding general of the Philippine Army."

He reiterated he will do his best in performing his job for the good of the Army. (EAD)
