Monday, May 12, 2008 First LTO renewal center opens in Bacolod
THE opening of the first renewal center for drivers' license and medical drug testing in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City opened Friday at Robinson's Place with a 'star-studded' ribbon cutting ceremony.
The Driver's License Renewal Center with the rapid renewal medical drug testing is owned by businessman Ted Lizares and managed by Betina Quimson.
Its opening was flooded by 'political celebrities' and government executives from Malacañang, Bacolod and the province.
Among them were Presidential Management Staff Secretary Cerge Remonde, Deputy Presidential Spokesman Anthony Golez, LTO Assistant Secretary Alberto Suansing, Rep. Ignacio 'Iggy' Arroyo Jr. (5th District, Neg.Occ.), Bacolod Rep. Monico Puentevella, Gov. Isidro Zayco, Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, and Local Water Utility Administrator Leonard Matti, among others.
In his speech prior to the ribbon cutting, Suansing stressed: "We allowed this kind of renewal center in Bacolod to simply help decongest the LTO headquarter here from the bulk of daily transactions."
This is also meant to eliminate red tape at LTO-Bacolod, added Suansing.
Zayco said, "I hope this will be replicated also in other parts of Negros so Negrenses won't go to Bacolod anymore and instead, will only go a renewal center nearer to their place."
Both Leonardia and Puentevella lauded the initiative of the owner in coming up with the business venture "that will truly hasten transactions at the LTO".
The one-stop-shop for those who wants to renew their driver's license with medical and drug test results is on the third floor of Robinson's mall.(Erwin Ambo Delilan)
