Pahanocoy, Banago, Brgy. 6 in contrasting Monico Cup wins

BARANGAY Pahanocoy displayed a balanced offensive Saturday to edge past hard-fighting Barangay 29, 66-62, in elimination round games of the ongoing 2008 Monico Cup Under-19 Inter-Barangay Summer Basketball Tournament at the Barangay 35 gym.

The Arnel Lacson-mentored Pahanocoy cagers got double digit scoring from Froilan Bernaldez with 13, Nicholas Baylon with 11 and Jason Makilan with 10 while Jake Bernasol chipped in with nine points for the win.

Unheralded Barangay 23 was led by Reynold Cervales with a game-high 21 points while Ralman Blasi added 15 and Ryan Sycayklo 13.

Banago drubbed Barangay 20, 74-59, with Elvin Bautista finishing with 22 points while Leonard Medallo chipped in with 14.

Barangay 20 had 28 points from Kim Villaluna and Ivan Agsam added another 21 points in their losing cause.

Meanwhile, Lavadia and Crisostomo combined for 25 points as winless Barangay 36 went down to Barangay 6, 67-68.

Jolieto Pugoy and Kristor Genolos finished with 14 points apiece for Barangay 6.

Hostilities in this grassroots outreach sports program of Bacolod Rep. Monico Puentevella's congressional district office resumes tomorrow, May 13, at the Barangay Granada gym starting at 1:30PM with the game between Barangay 23 and Barangay 28; Mansilingan vs Barangay 18 at 3PM; Tangub vs Barangay 6 at 4:30PM and Bata vs Barangay 20 at 6PM.(Henry C.
