PAL bares low-fare promos for local, int'l routes

PHILIPPINE Airlines (PAL) has introduced a round of promotional fares featuring hefty discounts on flights to all domestic jet-service destinations as well as major points in Asia and Australia, as the flag carrier prepares for the cyclical low travel season.

A one-way fare of P88 is being offered for trips to Manila and Laoag, Legazpi, Puerto Princesa, Bacolod, Cebu, Iloilo, Kalibo, Roxas, Tacloban, Tagbilaran, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cotabato, Davao, Dipolog, General Santos and Zamboanga.

The special fare, excluding insurance and fuel surcharges as well as value-added tax, is available for ticketing until June 2 and is valid for travel from June 15 to December 15, 2008.

Meanwhile, roundtrip fares from Manila to 13 chosen destinations throughout Australia start at $88 for the newly-launched Chinese points of Chongqing and Chengdu, both gateways to the spectacular Three Gorges region.

The $88 roundtrip fare is also applicable for the red-eye service to Jakarta (PR 535), which departs Manila every Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday at 9 p.m. and arrives in Jakarta at midnight.

The return service, PR 536, departs Jakarta every Wednesday, Saturday and Monday at 12:50AM and arrives in Manila at 5:45AM.

Both $88 promos are good for travel until November 30, 2008 only.

Further, a roundtrip fare of $98 is being offered on two of PAL's three daily services between Manila and Singapore. The promo rate is applicable on PR 501, departing Manila at 2:45PM and arriving in Singapore at 6:25 p.m.

It also applies to PR 505, which departs from Manila at 7:40 p.m. and arrives in Singapore at 11:15 p.m. Both return services, PR 502 and PR 506, are also covered by the $98 special fare.

The Singapore promo is available to passengers embarking in any of PAL's domestic points, with a minimal surcharge. Passengers boarding from a Luzon or Visayas point pay $125 roundtrip, while those originating from Mindanao are assessed $136 roundtrip.

This particular promo is available for ticketing up to May 31 only and is valid for travel between June 16 and October 13, 2008.

For other flights to Singapore and Jakarta, as well as to Bangkok, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City, Taipei and Xiamen, the flag carrier is also offering a special roundtrip fare of $108.

Other Asia-Pacific destinations have slightly higher roundtrip promo rates: Shanghai, $168; Beijing, $268; Melbourne and Sydney, both $428.

These fares are available for ticketing from June 1 to 15, 2008 only and valid for travel between July 1 and October 13, 2008.

All international promo fares are exclusive of taxes and surcharges.
