The speaker was Mayor Pedro Zayco Jr., who cited the organizers, headed by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Elisa Broņola for conducting the event. He said the convention would further strengthen the ties of teachers and their officials in the Division.

Also present in the convention were Vice Mayor Delia Anacan and City Council members Raul Rivera, Mamerto Mayoga Jr., Jeorge Largado, Aniceto Villaluz, Jose Severino Nacional and Rene Dumaguete.

Also in attendance was Rizalino Tortosa, former schools division superintendent of Kabankalan, who is now the Negros Occidental schools division superintendent.

Tortosa received a certificate of appreciation for having served Kabankalan as superintendent for more than nine years. He, in turn, expressed his gratitude to local officials for their support to DepEd during his term up to this time.

Broņola said the convention was aimed at gathering as a family all teaching and non-teaching personnel in a family day affair, to introduce the newly-hired teaching and non-teaching personnel of the division for the last three years, to discuss issues and concerns regarding GSIS, Civil Service circulars, division policies relative to employees benefits and welfare and to participate and be involved in the launching of projects and programs of the department and the local government unit for the benefit of the teachers and student population.

Included in the convention were the literacy workers and non-teaching staff paid by the local government.

There was also an awarding of certificate of appreciation to DepEd's valued stakeholders, given by Dr. Broņola, Elena Olvido, asst. schools division superintendent and Andres Domingo, elementary supervisor I.
