Tuesday, May 27, 2008 Leonardia to Bacoleños: Observe flag days
BACOLOD Mayor Evelio Leonardia Monday signed Executive Order (EO) 19-2008, ordering the observance of flag days from May 28 to June as part of the 110th Philippine Independence celebration.
As per the EO, the City Government also urged all business establishments, private and government offices, non-government organizations (NGOs), barangays, residents of the community, and owners of public and private motor vehicles to display the Philippine flag in practicable places as an expression of nationalism and patriotism.
Leonardia also signed EO 18, which created a committee to undertake various activities for the Independence Day commemoration.
Chairman of the committee is Councilor Alex Paglumotan with City Council member Homer Bais as vice chairman. The members include City Council members Greg Gasataya, Celia Matea Flor, and Wilson Gamboa Jr; City Tourism head Imogene Kanaan, City Accountant. Eduardo Ravena, OIC City Treasurer Annabelle Badajos, OIC City Engineer Teresita Guadalupe, CPDO's Lemuel Reynaldo, DepEd's Milagros Gonzales, Bacolod police chief Ronilo Quebrar, GSO's Efren Canlas, BAC's Melvin Recabar, Paad's Santiago Adorio Jr., City Legal officer Allan Zamora, BTAO's Levy Pangue, executive assistants Benjamin Torre and Edwina Javier and Ruby Pelagio of the City Mayor's Office.
The Secretariat is composed of executive assistant Reynaldo Ebreo, Conchita Castillo, Connie Galeno, Misty Gustilo, and Hazel Vallende.
The committee is tasked to plan and secure the necessary budgetary, technical and human resource support for the effective implementation and execution of activities for the celebration; coordinate with persons, agencies or organizations, both in government and the private sectors, who will be able to make the celebration a success; and perform all such other functions as may be related to all the foregoing.
