Tuesday, May 27, 2008 Bus Group plays even with Dupros
REX Bayer scored his 19th point with five seconds left and lifted Basketball Unified Sports (Bus) Group, 62-60, over host Dumaguete Professionals (DuPros) in the club's below-40 category fellowship game last Saturday at ABC Learning Center in Dumaguete City.
Loloy Dolorido added 14 as he rallied the Huskies from five points down with two minutes left. The Tanjay-native employee of PLDT carried the load for coach Moises Padilla in the first half as DuPros dominated the boards and the intermission at 33-25.
Bus Group, through Ed Cruz, Biboy Java, Raymundo Sapa Jr. and Randy Cawaling took the third quarter, 17-10, and outscored the Boy Tionko-coached Dumagueteños, 20-17, in the last canto.
In the 40-above level, DuPros evened the score with a 78-67 victory highlighted by Tionko's three points shot at the buzzer. It was a seesaw battle from start to finish but the hosts outrebounded the visitors and protected their lead and exact revenge on their tormentors last year.
The Huskies took the first and second quarters, 23-20 and 19-17 but DuPros got the third with 21-14 and finish off with enough determination to seal a win.
