Football festival set on June 1

A UNIQUE football tournament gets to be staged this Sunday, June 1st, at the University of St. La Salle pitch dubbed as the Gus Uriarte Memorial Football Festival.

Held to honor one of the former patrons of the sport in Negros, the event will be staged in five categories - boys Under-17 where five teams are expected to participate.

For the girls Under-17 category, seven teams will play. While in the men's open, 15 teams signified to join. Four teams under the women's open will also do action.

The festival is in cooperation with the UVAFT and the USLS Varsity Sports Office.

Former national team mainstay Alfredo 'Bambi' Dioso Jr. of Bacolod United Football Club said, the festival sponsors are the Uriarte Family, Bacolod United Football Club, PAGCOR and TAO Commodities.
